Summary / Overview
In this itinerary we experience India’s Best three wildlife reserves Ranthambore, Kanha & Pench. By doing 14 game drives in these beautiful parks we will witness wide range of Indian wildlife ie different varieties of deer’s, antelopes, monkeys, wild boar, jackal, bison, wild dogs, sloth bear, leopard and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Besides the mammals you will also witness large variety of birds. The itinerary starts with our travel from Delhi to Ranthambore by a day train. After Ranthambhore we visit famous Bharatpur bird sanctuary to witness different varieties of birds. We also get chance to see world famous TajMahal in sunset. Further we take overnight train to Jabalpur from where we are transferred to Kanha National Park. Both Kanha & Pench national parks are situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh and have wide range of flora & fauna to offer. After completing our drives at Pench, we are transferred to Nagpur airport / railway station for our onward journey back home.

Special Guidelines to Book Game drives / Safaris
As per the latest guidelines issued by India wildlife authorities some changes have been made to book any game drive in the park. To reduce the pressure from the park, forest department have reduced the number of jeeps for these game drives, therefore, these drives needs to be booked & paid well in advance. These game drives once booked & paid are non refundable. In order to book these game drives names of all the clients are required along with their latest Passport details. No name change is permitted at later stage once its booked. The park official checks each client’s passport at the park gate while getting in for safari. If you apply for a new passport after booking your game drives, please carry your old passport as well.
Due to these changes in our booking system we strongly suggest you to book these Tiger trips at least 3 – 4 months in advance. We book tickets for all passengers as soon as permits become available, usually 3 months prior to the date of actual game drive.
Day 01: Arrive Delhi in the morning & afternoon free to recover
We arrive Delhi in the morning and transferred to our hotel. Afternoon is free for an optional visit to Old Delhi, we visit the crowded Old Delhi and its narrow lanes full of activities and still influenced by the great Mughals. We visit Jama Mosque – built in 17th century and the largest mosque in India, Chandni Chowk – the typical Indian market always abuzz with activities, and Rajghat – the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Day 02: Delhi, short city tour of New Delhi afternoon day train to Ranthambhore
In the morning we take a short tour of Imperial Delhi, witnessing India Gate, Rashtriyapati Bhawan & Himanyu’s tomb after which we drive to railway station to catch day train to Ranthambhore. It’s an express train with comfortable air-conditioned chair car seats. We arrive Ranthambhore in the evening and short transfer to our hotel for overnight stay. (B/fast & Dinner)
Day 03: Ranthambore National Park (Morning & Evening Game drives)
Early in the morning we go for our first game drive by jeep and have another one later in the afternoon. We usually get 3 -4 hrs free time between these two drives to recover. Besides the jeep driver we also get the services of one forest guides for each drive, who gets on each jeep from the park gate. These forest guides are from the local villages situated in the buffer zone and have very good knowledge of wildlife available in their park and the behavior of the mammals.
Ranthambhore is one of the best India’s Project Tiger conservation projects, it was once the private hunting reserve of the Maharajahs of Jaipur. It’s spread over an area of 392 sq km. along with its nearby sanctuaries like – the Mansingh Sanctuary and the Kaila Devi Sanctuary. The park is majorly famous for its tigers and is one of the best locations in India to see the majestic predators in its natural habitat.

Day 04: Ranthambore National Park (Morning & Evening Game drives)
We will have another two game drives today.
The forest is typically dry deciduous with dhok trees all around being the most prominent tree. The entry point to the Park, goes straight to the foot of the fort and the forest rest house, Jogi Mahal. The latter boasts of the second-largest banyan tree in India. The Padam Talab, the Raj Bagh Talab and the Malik Talab are some of the popular lakes here that attract the tiger population. They have been spotted at the edges of these lakes. Old crumbling walls, ruined pavilions, wells, and other ancient structures stand witness to the region’s glorious past. The entire forest is peppered with the battlements and spillovers of the Ranthambore Fort – tigers are said to frequent these ruins, too.

Day 05: Ranthambore, train to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary
We catch early morning train to Bharatpur, also known as Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary. Arrive late morning and transfer to our hotel. After an early lunch we are transferred to the entrance gate of the park, from where we will be taking cycle rickshaws for the visit to this place.
During the wet season thousands of cormorants, Painted Storks, Openbill Storks, egrets and herons nest in the tops of babul trees above the water and throughout the winter months numbers of youngsters can be seen feeding alongside their parents. The spectacle is increased by the presence of wintering Greylag and Bar-headed Geese, various ducks, Spoonbills, White Ibis, cranes, Purple Swamphens, jacanas, waders and dozens of other water-loving birds turning the marshes into a birdwatching paradise. We will stay in the park till the sun sets and after that we come back to our hotel. (B/fast, Lunch & dinner)
Day 06: Bharatpur, drive to Agra visit Taj & Agra fort, train to Jabalpur
Morning after b/fast, it’s a short drive to Agra. In the afternoon we visit Agra fort followed by the visit to world famous Taj in sunset. Agra fort, built by the Mughal emperors is a magnificent fort; it was once a great city, with palaces, mosques and halls, all lying within the protective embrace of 20 meters high walls. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic buildings in the city. After the visit to Agra fort we visit Taj Mahal during sunset. We watch the sunset over the Taj Mahal, one of the most universally recognized buildings on earth. In the evening after an early dinner we catch overnight train to Jabalpur. (B/fast)
Day 07: Arrive Jabalpur, to Kanha National Park. (160 kms)
We arrive Jabalpur in the morning and transfer to Kanha National park (3 – 4 hrs drive). Afternoon is free to have some time off as the next 3 days we will be busy doing 6 drives without any break. We stay in our lodge, situated in the Mocha village not very far from the park gate. In the late afternoon can go for nature walk around the lodge. (B/fast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 08: Kanha National Park (Morning & Evening Game drives)
Early in the morning we go for our first game drive by jeep and have another one later in the afternoon. We usually get 3 -4 hrs free time between these two drives to recover.
Created in 1974 and often described as India’s greatest wildlife reserve, Kanha is vast. Covering approximately 1,945 sq. km of undulating terrain, the elevation ranges from 450m to 900m with expansive grasslands, plateaus and dramatic rocky escarpments providing a home to literally hundreds of species of wildlife. Park’s landmark achievement is the preservation of the rare hard ground Swamp dear (Barasingha), saving it from near extinction stringent conservation programs and makes Kanha one of the well maintained National Park of India.

Day 09: Kanha National Park (Morning & Evening Game drives)
We leave once again early in the morning from our lodge at around 5.45am, taking a picnic breakfast with us which we can eat at one of several designated stopping places in the park. Kanha is an Indian wildlife park of the imagination whose atmosphere and apparently endless landscape can rightly be described as Kipling home. Kanha Tiger Reserve abounds in meadows or medians which are basically open grasslands that have sprung up in fields of abandoned villages, evacuated to make way for the animals. Kanha meadow is one such example.

Day 10: Kanha National Park (Morning & Evening Game drives)
We will have our last two drives in Kanha. During our stay at Kanha we have altogether 6 game drives from Kanha, Kisli and Mukki zone depending on the availability of zone. At some stage we can also visit the Kanha Museum, located inside the Reserve, which contains fascinating, well conceived exhibits relating to the entire ecosystem and its fauna and flora.
The main wildlife attractions in the park are tiger, bison, gaur, sambhar, chital, more pictures…. barasingha, barking deer, black deer, black buck, chousingha, nilgai, mouse deer, sloth bear, jackal fox, porcupine, hyena, jungle cat, python, pea fowl, hare, monkey, mongoose, tiger, and leopard.
The birds species in the park include storks, teals, pintails, pond herons, egrets, peacock, pea fowl, jungle fowl, spur fowl, partridges, quails, ring doves, spotted parakeets, green pigeons, rock pigeons, cuckoos, papihas, rollers, bee-eater, hoopoes, drongos, warblers, kingfishers, woodpeckers, finches, orioles, owls, and fly catchers. Day 11: Kanha, transfer to Pench national park ( 185 kms) 4 – 5 hrs drive
After breakfast we drive further south towards the state of Maharashtra and reach Pench National park, the drive itself is beautiful through the rural part of India. It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh, bordering Maharashtra, in the districts of Seoni and Chhindwara.Pench National Park, comprising of 758 SQ Kms, out of which a core area of 299 sq km is the national park and and remaining 464 sq km is the buffer area. In the afternoon we will have our first game drive in the park to admire a different landscape and variety of flora & fauna. (B/fast, Lunch & dinner)
Day 12: Pench, morning game drive and afternoon free
Today we will have another game drive in the park in the morning and afternoon free to recover, as the park is closed for afternoon drive on each Wednesday.
Flora: Ain, Bamboo, Haldu, Karu, Arjun, Tendu, Char.
Fauna: Tiger, Leopard, Sloth bear, Wild dog, Jackal, Sambar, Indian Bison, Barking Deer, Blue Bull, Spotted Deer, Chausingha, Ratel, Flying Squirrel, Wild Boar, Langur, Rhesus Monkey, Porcupine, Pangolin, barking deer
In the afternoon we can walk to Turia village to admire evening life in the village. (B/fast, Lunch & dinner)
Day 13: Pench National Park (Morning & Evening Game drive)
Early in the morning we leave by jeep for morning game drive and have our last drive of the trip later in the afternoon. We usually get 3 -4 hrs time between these two drives to recover. Besides the jeep driver we also get the services of one forest guides for each drive, who gets on each jeep from the park gate. These forest guides are from the local villages situated in the buffer zone and have very good knowledge of wildlife available in their park and the behavior of the mammals.
The undulating terrain of Pench is covered with small hills and well stocked Teak (Tectona Grandis) forest. Pench is one of the tiger reserves included in Project Tiger. Besides tiger, there is a huge array of other wildlife such as leopard, monkey, deer, nillgai and bird life.

Day 14: Pench, drive to Nagpur airport / railway station ( 3 hrs drive)
After breakfast transfer to Nagpur airport / railway station for onward journey. There are regular flights from Nagpur to Mumbai airport from where one can get easily international connections. (B/fast)
